    In accordance with its 2017 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Study Visit on ‘Metadata’ to Jordan for the benefit of the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) of Saudi Arabia on 7-9 May 2018. The study visit was hosted by the Department of Statistics (DOS) of Jordan with the participation of Mr. Khaled FAQIHI, Expert on Statistical Methodologies of GASTAT of Saudi Arabia.
    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); metadata covers developing, harmonising and standardising metadata models, structures and frameworks in the context of statistical information processing and dissemination, deals also with harmonising the statistical terminology and definitions.
    The Study Visit on ‘Metadata’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:
    • Introduction to metadata
    • Types of metadata
    • Metadata management
    • Metadata tools
    • Metadata software
    • GSBM, DDI, SIMS
    • Metadata strategy

    S sesric_statistics started the conversation Technical Mission on ‘Labour Statistics’ to Egypt, 1-3 May 2018 .

    In accordance with its 2018 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC will organise the Technical Mission on ‘Labour Statistics’ to Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) of Arab Republic of Egypt on 1-3 May 2018.
    The Technical Mission will be conducted by Ms. Noraliza Mohamad Ali, Deputy Director and Statistician from the Core Team Malaysian Bureau of Labour Statistics at Department of Statistics (DoS) of Malaysia, with the participation of relevant officials of CAPMAS of Egypt.
    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); labour statistics covers statistics on labour force, labour market, employment and unemployment; the more detailed topics include economically active population, labour conditions, health and safety at work (accidents at work, occupational injuries and diseases, work-related health problems), working time and other working conditions, strikes and lockouts, job vacancies, job creation.
    The Technical Mission on ‘Labour Statistics’ will include discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

    In accordance with its 2018 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC will organise the Study Visit on ‘Understanding the Business of Statistics and Project Management’ for the benefit of the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) of Republic of Albania on 26 – 27 July 2018. The Study Visit will be hosted by the BPS-Statistics Indonesia.

    The Study Visit will be paid by Ms. Gladiola BAJA, Head of Project Coordinator Sector, and Ms. Blerina PAJA, Specialist of Project's Coordinator Sector, INSTAT of Albania.

    In accordance with its 2018 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC will organise the Statistics Course on ‘International Trade Statistics' at Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) of Sudan on 18-20 March 2018.
    The Statistics Course will be conducted by Mr. Sayed Samir Saber GOMAA, Director of the Department of Foreign Trade at Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) of Egypt, with the participation of relevant officials of the CBS of Sudan.
    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009;http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); International trade and balance of payments deal with statistics on all crossborder transactions recorded in the balance of payments, includes topics like trade in goods and services, external positions and debt, foreign direct investment, foreign affiliated trade, tariffs, market access, foreign aid, development assistance, resource flows to developing countries.
    The Statistics Course on 'International Trade Statistics' will include discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:
    • Introduction and the importance of trade statistics

    The Technical Mission will be conducted by Mr. Pénatien Emile KONE, Expert from National Institute of Statistics (INS) of Cote d'Ivoire, with the participation of relevant officials of the INS.

    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Labour Statistics – covers statistics on labour force, labour market, employment and unemployment; the more detailed topics include economically active population, labour conditions, health and safety at work (accidents at work, occupational injuries and diseases, work-related health problems), working time and other working conditions, strikes and lockouts, job vacancies, job creation.

    In accordance with its 2018 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC will organise the Statistics Course on ‘Infographics’ at Kuwait Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) on 27-28 March 2018.
    The Statistics Course will be conducted by Mr. Zulhan RUDYANSYAH, Head of Section Standardization and Publication Design in BPS-Statistics Indonesia, with the participation of relevant officials of the CSB of Kuwait.
    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009;http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); dissemination and data warehousing cover policies, strategies, methods and techniques of data dissemination, design and organization of output databases and data warehouses, including feedback from users, communicating with the media, work of NSO press offices, data and metadata presentation, electronic dissemination (Internet), statistical portals.
    The Statistics Course on ‘Infographics’ will include discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

    In accordance with its 2018 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Statistics Course on ‘Gender Statistics’ at National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of Maldives on 23 –25 April 2018.

    The Statistics Course was conducted by Ms. Hasnani RANGKUTI, Expert from BPS-Statistics Indonesia, with the participation of 20 officials of the NBS.

    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Gender Statistics – covers living conditions and role in the society: comparisons men/women and situation of special population groups like children, youth, women, elderly, disabled, minority groups, etc.

    The Statistics Course on ‘Gender Statistics’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:
    • Basics of gender statistics,
    • Importance of demographic indicators for gender analysis,
    • Gender and economic activity,
    • Gender concerns in education.
    • Gender and Health,
    • Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): an Introduction, and

    The Statistical Course will be conducted by Mr. Mohamad Shukor Mat LAZIM, Deputy Director of Manpower and Social Statistics Division from DoS of Malaysia, with the participation of relevant officials of the NCSI of Oman.
    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009;http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); sustainable development statistics cover work on indicators and frameworks to monitor the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development.
    The Statistical Course on 'Sustainable Development Statistics' will include discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:

    The Statistical Course will be conducted by Mr. Ari Shobri BUKHARI, Expert from BPS-Statistics Indonesia, with the participation of relevant officials of the PBS.

    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009;http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Quality Frameworks and Measurement of Performance of Statistical Systems and Offices – covers implementation of quality models, development and use of quality management tools, harmonisation of quality assessment frameworks, performance indicators for statistical organizations.

    The Statistical Course on ‘Quality Frameworks and Measurement of Performance of Statistical Systems and Offices’ will include discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:
    • UN recommendation on Quality Assurance for Every National Statistical Office,
    • Quality Dimensions of Statistics and GSBPM, and
    • Quality Measurement and Quality Declare.

    In accordance with its 2018 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Statistics Course on ‘Income and Consumption Statistics’ at the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Analysis (INSAE) of Benin on 20 –22 March 2018.

    The Statistical Course was conducted by Mr. Dognimon SORO, Expert from National Institute of Statistics (INS) of Cote d'Ivoire, with the participation of 21 officials of the INSAE.

    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Income and Consumption Statistics – covers statistics on household income and expenditures from household viewpoint (all types of income and expenditure), including topics like distribution of incomes, in-kind income, income transfers received and paid, income or expenditure-based measures of poverty, consumer protection, consumption patterns, consumer goods and durables, household wealth and debts.

    The Statistical Course on ‘Income and Consumption Statistics’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:
    • Concepts of Labor Statistics,
    • From labor statistics to the labor market information system,
    • Review of 16th and 17th ICLS resolutions on income and consumption (1998 and 2003) and guidelines,
    • Income Statistics. and
    • Consumption Statistics,
