    In accordance with its 2018 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC will organise the Statistical Course on 'Data Analysis' at General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) of Saudi Arabia on 28-30 January 2018.
    The Statistical Course will be conducted by Mr. Mohamed Ragab Ramadan ELBAZ, Director of the Implementation Department at Central Agency of Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) of Egypt with the participation of relevant officials of CBS of Sudan.
    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); data analysis - includes methods of data analysis in official statistics for other purposes than editing/quality management, e.g. seasonal adjustment, methods for constructing composite indicators, identification of causal factors, extrapolation, scenario and model building etc.
    The Statistical Course on 'Data Analysis' will include discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:
    • Introduction to time series
    • Identification of the properties of time series
    • Semi average method in time series analysis
    • The least squares method in time series analysis
    • Use of the general trend forecasting model
    • Use of the seasonal time series model to forecast
    • Practical application to study social phenomena
    • Practical application to study an economic phenomenon
    • Preparation of a final report.

    In accordance with its 2017 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC will organise the Study Visit on ‘Population and Migration Statistics’ to Malaysia for the benefit of the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) on 29-30 January 2018. The study visit will be hosted by the Department of Statistics (DOS) Malaysia.
    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Population and migration – includes work in population and demographic statistics, topics like demography, vital statistics, population structures and growth, demographic projections, families and households (marriages, divorces, household size), migration, refugees and asylum seekers.
    The Study Visit on ‘Population and Migration Statistics’ will include discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:
    • Population and Housing Census
    o Overview on Population and Housing Census Malaysia 2020
    o Country Experiences on Population and Housing Census: Saudi Arabia and Malaysia

    In accordance with its 2017 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC will organise the Study Visit on ‘Labour Statistics’ to Brunei Darussalam for the benefit of the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) on 23-24 January 2018. The study visit will be hosted by the Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE) of Brunei Darussalam.
    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Labour – covers statistics on labour force, labour market, employment and unemployment; the more detailed topics include economically active population, labour conditions, health and safety at work (accidents at work, occupational injuries and diseases, work-related health problems), working time and other working conditions, strikes and lockouts, job vacancies, and job creation.
    The Study Visit will include discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:
    • Overview of Brunei Darussalam’s Labour Force Statistics
    • Programme of Regular Labour Force Surveys
    • Implementation of the latest international standards (19th ICLS)

    The Training Course will be conducted by Mr. Sa’di Sameer Saade MASSRI, Director of Labour Force Survey, Head Of Work Conditions Division at Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) with the participation of relevant officials of CBS of Sudan.
    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); labour statistics – covered statistics on labour force, labour market, employment and unemployment; the more detailed topics include economically active population, labour conditions, health and safety at work (accidents at work, occupational injuries and diseases, work-related health problems), working time and other working conditions, strikes and lockouts, job vacancies, job creation.

    In accordance with its 2018 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC will organise the Training Course on ‘Data Analysis’ at National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of Maldives on 22 – 24 January 2018.

    The Training Course will be conducted by Mr. Rizwan BASHIR, Expert from Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), with the participation of relevant officials of the NBS.

    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Data Analysis – covers methods of data analysis in official statistics for other purposes than editing/quality management, e.g. seasonal adjustment, methods for constructing composite indicators, identification of causal factors, extrapolation, scenario and model building etc.

    In accordance with its 2016 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Training Course on 'Construction Statistics' at Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) of Republic of the Sudan on 25-27 December 2017.
    The Training Course was conducted by Ms. Aghadeer AL-NIDAWI, Director at Central Statistical Organization (CSO) of the Republic of Iraq, with the participation of 15 officials of CBS of Sudan.
    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); construction statistics allow to assess the use and impact of specific industrial activities, e.g. steel, shipbuilding, and on construction, trade in specific products related to construction. The subject area “Construction Statistics’” is currently classified under the “Sectoral Statistics”, an activities category under the “Economic Statistics” domain.

    The Training Course on 'Construction Statistics' included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:
    • Construction statistics and the overall concept of the sector
    • Characteristics of the sector
    • International classification of construction statistics and how to apply them
    • Explanation of construction statistics in the private sector and methods of data collection
    • The most important indicators for the public sector
    • Statistics of the prices of construction materials
    • Explanation of construction statistics in the public sector and methods of data collection

    In accordance with its 2017 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC organised the Study Visit on ‘Population and Housing Censuses; Registers of Population, Dwellings and Buildings’ to Jordan for the benefit of the Libyan Bureau of Statistics and Census (LBSC) on 26-28 December 2017.
    The study visit was hosted by the Department of Statistics (DoS) of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with the participation of the Libyan delegation from the LBSC.
    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); Population and housing censuses; registers of population, dwellings and buildings cover methodology and organization of population and housing censuses, including register based censuses, development and maintenance of statistical registers of population, buildings and dwellings covering and following the whole resident population.
    The Study Visit on ‘Population and Housing Censuses; Registers of Population, Dwellings and Buildings’ included discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:
    • Preparations for census

    • Legal basis, organizational structure, road map, national committees
    • Terms of reference
    • Infrastructure

    • Preparatory stage

    • Geographical databases
    • Packages (concept of packages, implementation mechanism, software application used, previous experiences, training)

    In accordance with its 2017 Annual Work Plan and within the framework of Statistical Capacity Building (StatCaB) Programme, SESRIC will organise the Training Course on ‘Geographic Information Systems (GIS)’ at the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) of Republic of Albania on 19-21 December 2017.
    The Training Course will be conducted by Ms. Mennatallah Anwar Ahmed Mohamed HASHIM, Geospatial Database Administrator and Developer at Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) of Egypt, with the participation of relevant officials of the INSTAT of Albania.
    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 - October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); ‘Geographic Information Systems (GIS)’ is classified under “Data sources” which deals with different methods of data collection from respondents and different forms of data sources at national level. It includes activities on electronic data reporting and Internet reporting which are not directly related to specific censuses or surveys.
    The Training Course on ‘Geographic Information Systems (GIS)’ will include discussion activities with a focus on the following topics:
    • Sharing GIS resources online
    • Sharing Editable Layers (Operational Layers)
    • Sharing BaseMap
    • Preparing and Sharing data For ArcGIS collector
    • Practical examples on collect, edit, and update using Collector with android devices
    • Presentation on “How CAPMAS conducted Census 2017 Using GIS and Tablets”
    • Creating named Users for each Surveyor
    • Tracking where collectors go and tracking edits on the data

    The Training Course will be conducted by Ms. Nur Layali MOHD ALI KHAN, Senior Assistant Director at Department of Statistics (DOS) Malaysia, with the participation of relevant officials of the FCSA of UAE.

    The study visit will be hosted by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) of Egypt.

    As defined in the Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1 – October 2009; http://goo.gl/olg3Tz); energy statistics covers any statistical activity dealing with energy supply, energy use, energy balances, security of supply, energy markets, trade in energy, energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and government expenditure on energy.
